Will managed to qualify for PFG’s European factory visit, with Deutz gaining some serious traction in the Wagga area.
The trip included two factory visits- Luingen in Germany to see the brand new High Horsepower factory, as well as the SDF factory in Treviglio in Italy.
“Deutz-Fahr Land” is a seriously impressive factory, with the assembly line building to the capacity of up to 60 high horsepower tractors each day.
Following this, it was test drive time with some of the new models coming to Australia as well as the TTV(variable transmission) tractors available.
The Aussie banter was quick to follow with “lap times” mentioned in a few groups!
After plenty of Pork, potato and beer it was time to move on to Italy with a stopover for a night in Innsbruck, Austria. With 50,000 uni students and an amazing setting at the foot of the Swiss Alps, the beer flowed and maybe a late night, the following day the group travelled down to Italy.
The SDF factory in Treviglio is the smaller horsepower factory, with around 500 staff assembling machines. It was interesting to see the amount of different “coloured” tractors coming out of this factory, with some well-known competitors using SDF to build them. The museum and timeline of the SDF brand is a long and proud one, with SDF directors addressing our Australian group, with gratitude of how quickly and successfully Australia is moving up the ladder with the Deutz-Fahr brand.
It is exciting times ahead for Total Ag Wagga and the Deutz-Fahr brand with new releases not too far away from Australian shores.
